Nutrition & Mealtime

At Smarties Early Learning Centre, we understand that a nutritious and balanced meal is essential for healthy growing bodies. Our qualified in-house cook prepares healthy, balanced nutritious meals made from fresh ingredients and seasonal produce.

We have carefully planned a seasonal menu including breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and late afternoon tea. A rotating meal menu plan will be provided and visible to all children and families rotating weekly.

All meals are prepared in our purposely built Kitchen, which is designed to encourage children participation and viewing areas. We also have a separate dining area, which we utilise for meals at times when children want time out of the room.

Interactive Kitchen

Our unique and Reggio Emilia inspired interactive kitchen is designed for children to immerse themselves in live cooking experiences. Our kitchen is not only a place where food is prepared but a place where children are welcomed and are able to join our centre cook in the exciting daily food preparations. This allows for the children to look, touch, smell, taste and even help prepare the food whilst exploring the seasonal fresh ingredients that are sourced to prepare their nutritious meals daily.

At Smarties Early Learning Centre, cooking is much more than just providing a nutritious meal, we believe that providing children with the opportunity to be involved in the cooking as an experience is key to creating opportunities to try new foods and a great way to encourage children to expand their taste palate and go beyond their limited taste preferences.
